Transparency about how the numbers work — and what they deliberately don't include.
- Per-km energy cost = fuel price ÷ km per litre/m³. EV per-km cost = electricity tariff × kWh per km. Monthly figures multiply by daily distance × operating days. Yearly adds your maintenance assumptions. We deliberately avoid resale value, depreciation curves, or financing math — those depend on too many factors to estimate honestly.
- Yes. Every input — distance, tariff, fuel price, mileage, maintenance, EV consumption — is editable. The result updates live so you can stress-test the figures against your real usage.
- A delivery operator doing 90 km daily on diesel has very different economics from a commuter doing 30 km on petrol. We split the flow so the defaults, comparator fuel, and insights stay relevant to your context.
- They're directionally accurate — useful for a confident decision, not a guarantee. Real-world cost varies with terrain, load, ambient temperature, charging behaviour, and tariff slab. We round outputs to avoid false precision.
- Not in this calculator. ARA's LFP batteries carry up to 5 years of warranty and the technology shows graceful degradation, not sudden failure. We choose not to model speculative replacement cost rather than inflate either direction.
